Making Magic: Baby’s First Grimoire is a spellbinding introduction to the magical world for the littlest witches and wizards. This board book gently blends early learning with enchanting elements, teaching colors, shapes, numbers, and emotions alongside foundational witchy concepts, all in an age-appropriate, wonder-filled way!

Created by illustrator and designer Roxy Prima-Johnson and writer and witch Sarah Spurlock, Making Magic is more than a learning tool, it’s an invitation into a lifelong relationship with magic, mindfulness, and imagination. Through beautiful hand-drawn illustrations and playful story telling, children are introduced to the idea of a grimoire: a magical book where they can collect their spells, dreams, favorite drawings, and memories.

Inside, little ones will explore beginner-friendly magical themes like auras, crystals, healing herbs, tarot cards, star systems, and astrology, alongside practical prompts for what they might include in their own Grimoire, such as pictures of their pets or written wishes. Whether you’re teaching your child to identify their star sign or how a color can reflect a feeling, this book is a cozy and joyful first step into intentional, magical living.

About the Author: Sarah Spurlock (she/her) is a writer, artist, and witch in Los Angeles. A trained historian, Sarah has a unique ability to interpret information for a large audience, turning complicated concepts into engaging stories that all can enjoy. Her work, which ranges from profiles to feature stories to children’s activity sections, has appeared in publications such as The Hollywood Reporter, Los Angeles Times, Architectural Digest, Sunset Magazine, and more. Her witchcraft zines can also be purchased at HausWitch in Salem, Massachusetts.

Sarah is a Gemini Sun and Leo Rising, and she’s never met a soapbox or a microphone she didn’t love. When she’s not writing, she’s working through her unending To Be Read stacks, collecting vinyl records with her husband Eric, training for competitive dancing, or snuggling her three-legged cat.
